Refund & Returns Policy
What happens if a part is wrong, arrives damaged, or is not what you needed.
This page is about parts bought from the online shop. Work carried out on a vehicle at the shop is covered by the Terms & Conditions instead.
The seller, and the business a returned part comes back to, is Aarons Auto LLC DBA Olds Legend — the shop that trades as OldsLegend Auto Services.
If something arrives damaged, wrong, or does not arrive
Tell us as soon as you can — call (317) 453-1085 or email oldslegend@gmail.com with your order number and, if it is damage, a photograph. A part that arrived broken, a part that is not the one on the order, and a part that never showed up are our problem to fix, and we would rather hear about it early than have you fight the carrier on your own.
Two things that cannot come back at all
These two are absolute on a change of mind. They are not a matter of how quickly you tell us or how well the box was packed, and it is better to read them here than to find out after you have paid. Changing your mind is the only thing they shut out: a defect, damage, the wrong item shipped, a manufacturer’s warranty and anything the law gives you are none of them a change of mind, and the clause underneath says so in terms.
- Electrical parts cannot be returned. Once an electrical part has left the shop it cannot be sold again, so it does not come back — not in its box, not unopened, not inside the 30 days.
This takes the whole 1970–72 Oldsmobile Cutlass Complete A/C Kit with it. The kit (VIN-CUT-7072, $2,500) is bought, priced and shipped as one item, and it contains electrical components, so the kit as a whole is non-returnable. Not just the harness and the control panel — the kit. It is the most expensive thing in the shop and the rule is easiest to meet by accident, so it is written out rather than left to be worked out. - Custom orders cannot be returned. A part built to your specifications was made for your vehicle and for nobody else’s. There is no shelf for it to go back onto.
The term, and the carve-outs that sit under both of those bullets:
Non-Returnable Parts. Custom, special-order, built-to-order, modified, or otherwise non-standard parts are non-returnable once ordered, except as required by applicable law or as provided by an applicable manufacturer warranty.
Electrical and electronic parts are not eligible for ordinary returns or refunds after purchase or installation, except for defects, damage, incorrect shipment, an applicable manufacturer warranty, or where a refund or other remedy is required by applicable law.
This return policy does not exclude or limit any warranty, remedy, or other right that applicable law does not permit Olds Legend to exclude or limit.
Everything below is about the ordinary case: a stock part you no longer need.
If you simply need to send something back
How long you have
Thirty days from the date of your order. Not from dispatch, and not from the day it landed on your porch — from the day you placed the order, which is the date on your confirmation email. On a part that ships next day those are nearly the same thing; on a long lead time they are not, so check the date rather than counting from the delivery.
Two conditions on top, and both have to hold: the part must be in its original packaging, and it must never have been installed. A part out of its packaging and a part that has been fitted — even once, even briefly — are both outside this policy.
What condition it has to be in
Unused, uninstalled, and in the packaging it arrived in, with anything that came with it. A part that has been bolted on, cut, drilled, painted, coated or fitted and then removed cannot go back into stock, and we cannot take it back.
Restocking
There is a 10% restocking fee, and it comes off the refund. It is calculated on what you send back, not on what the order was worth. Send one item back from a large order and you pay 10% of that item — not 10% of the order it happened to arrive in.
Worth an example, because this is the line people read two ways. Say you order a $3,500 front brake kit and a $900 control arm kit — a $4,400 order. The brakes are right and you keep them. The control arms are wrong for your car, so those go back. The fee is 10% of the $900 you returned, which is $90, and that part refunds at $810. It is not 10% of the $4,400 order, so it is never $440.
Send the whole order back and the fee is 10% of the whole order, for exactly the same reason: the fee follows the goods that come back.
Who pays the shipping
On a change-of-mind return — a stock part you ordered and no longer need, which is what all of this section is about — you do. The cost of sending it back to us is the buyer’s, so factor it in before you decide; on a heavy part it is not small.
That is a rule about change-of-mind returns and nothing else. It does not decide who pays when the part was our mistake.
The shipping you paid on the way out is not refunded either. It bought a service and that service was carried out: the part was picked, packed and handed to the carrier. What comes back to you is the part, less the restocking fee — the outbound charge stays with us. So a $900 control arm kit that cost $68 to send Expedited refunds as $810: the $90 restocking fee comes off, and the $68 does not come back.
How to start a return
- Contact the shop first, on (317) 453-1085 or oldslegend@gmail.com, with your order number and what is wrong. Do not send anything back before you have spoken to us — an unannounced box is how a return gets lost.
- We will confirm whether the part can come back, and where to send it.
- Pack it as well as it was packed on the way out. Keep the tracking number.
Getting your money back
Once the part is back with us and checked, the refund goes to the payment method you used, through Stripe. We do not hold your card details and cannot refund to a different card than the one that paid.
How long the money takes to appear after we send it is your bank’s timing rather than ours — usually a few working days, occasionally longer.
If you paid over time through a plan offered at checkout, the refund goes back through that provider and they adjust your remaining payments.
If a part fails later
A part that fails three months in is a warranty claim rather than a return. The thirty days, the original packaging and the restocking fee above have nothing to do with it.
The warranty on a part is the manufacturer’s, and the shop does not add one of its own on top of it. If something you bought here fails, the claim is against the company that made it. We will help you bring it — we can tell you exactly what you bought and when, and produce the invoice for it — but the cover is theirs, not ours. That is the ordinary position for a parts seller and it is written plainly here rather than discovered on the phone.
The freight on a warranty claim is yours. Sending the failed part back, and getting the replacement out to you, are both the buyer’s cost. The manufacturer covers the part; the postage on it is not part of what they cover and it is not something the shop absorbs. Better to know that before a claim starts than halfway through one, and on a heavy part it is worth pricing first.
This is a warranty claim and not a return, so nothing above applies to it: not the thirty days, not the original packaging, not the restocking fee, and not the change-of-mind shipping rule.
Parts we fitted work the same way on the part itself, with our own six-month guarantee on the labour standing beside it. The labour to fit a warranty replacement is the buyer’s too — the same answer as the freight, and it is written out in the Terms & Conditions.
Things this page does not cover
- Labour, diagnosis and work carried out at the shop — see the Terms & Conditions.
- The extended warranty product, which is a separate contract with its own claims process.
- Parts you bought somewhere else and brought to us to fit.
